I’m a fashion stylist – costume designer based in Berlin, Germany.
I was born in Argentina from Italian parents. I boarded my first plane when I was 2 and since then I have never stopped traveling. I grew up changing countries, houses, schools and hairstyles. Being a teenager in Africa made me creative, the latest fashion trends were not so easy to find, this was the early 80’s. So I would potato print materials and sew myself dresses, tops and whatever I could find a cool pattern for. After finishing my A levels in Zimbabwe I moved to Rome to make my dream come true and study fashion design. I graduated in 1989 from IED with full marks. My first work experiences were in the Theatre as costume designer and then Cinema as assistant costume designer. In 1991 ,with two friends from IED, I started a small production of summer dresses which in 8 years developed into a women’s apparel brand called Rosse da Matti, with a shop in Rome. In 2000 we decided to go our separate ways and closed the brand. I began working as a stylist and costume designer, for fashion catalogues, editorials, ad campaigns, commercials, videos, shorts and movies. I had the luck to work on many different sets, from low budget to super productions, and to collaborate with very professional colleagues. I gained a lot of experience and grew professionally. Then the urge to move became strong, I had been in Rome for too long, and in 2008 I moved to Buenos Aires. I continued my career, started my accessories brand Bette Dean, and created Bad Neighbours, a group of like-minded people who organized movie themed parties, dinners and events. I now live in Berlin with my partner and my dog. I still have a lot to learn and do.
